MY IKON, MY LENS

IKON PASS

Snowsports photography is a fickle dance…

In film, you’re given anywhere from 24 to 60 to even thousands of frames per second to create your perfect “moment.” But in photography, your opportunities are numbered. A day's worth of scooting around the mountain might only amount to a handful of exciting images. And, if the weather doesn’t cooperate (why would it?), or a line gets skied out, or a feature never fills in, then you might not get any shots at all.

Ski Photographers thrive under these conditions. They’re the enthusiastic conductors of a dance between athlete and element - always ready to slash in at the perfect moment, make order of the world, and imprint light onto pixel. Few do this as well as Stephen Shelesky.

We were lucky enough to spend some time with Stephen and Svea Irving at Arapahoe Basin to witness this dance. Great conditions aligned, an amazing crew brought the energy, and beautiful images DID come to life. But, as it turned out, for Stephen, the true joy of ski photography is not the magazine-worthy pow shot alone but the thrill of the pursuit: the memories created with friends, the community of ski photographers pushing each other with every shutter burst, and the unique opportunity to inspire Ikon Pass holders everywhere to chase their perfect moment on the slopes.

We’re excited to present My Ikon: My Lens
