SYNOPSIS

In order to bring something truly unique to the world of bourbon, Trey Zoeller and the team at Jefferson’s break free from tradition by experimenting with the aging process.  We follow along, as they branch out beyond Kentucky, and run experiments all over the world. With all the success and failure along the way.

What Trey discovers is not only a profoundly complex and distinct whiskey, but also the value of stepping out of the box, and carving your own path to create a life worth remembering.

THE GOAL

The goal of this project was to connect our audience with founder Trey Zeoller, on a personal level.

Trey Zoeller is someone who prioritizes memorable life experiences. He is someone who is always ready for adventure, appreciates a good conversation, and is always ready to try something new. It is this sense of adventure, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit that I wanted to capture on film.

THE APPROACH

The challenge with this documentary was the majority of the story took place in the past. So we needed to guide our viewers through these parts of the story in an interesting and stylistic way that maintained authenticity.

The way we achieved this was  by treating all moments that took place in the past as a series of singular moments. Abstract. Dreamlike.

These cinematic, stylistic recreations, helped pull the viewer in, and make them feel like they were there. Like these were their memories We combined this approach with a series of intimate Interviews to help bring the viewer along through 25 years of Jefferson's Bourbon.

CUTDOWNS

We set out with the simple goal of creating (3) strong assets for this campaign. Our main film is a 13 minute branded documentary, that tells the whole story of Trey Zoeller and the creation of Jefferson’s Bourbon. From there, we planned on creating two short form films that help push people to the full film.
